What I/We Like
When riding your bike, no matter whether you are road riding, BMXing, or mountain biking, a helmet is a vital component for keeping you safe. However, many people are put off by the price tag that these safety units attract. But who says that great protection should come with a huge cost?
The Bell team has been making high-quality bike helmets for many years and they have taken their experience in the head protection sector and created a helmet that is affordable for most people. The Bell Transfer-9 is a great value-for-money helmet that will protect your head in the event of a collision.
Bell Transfer-9 Bike Helmet Review REVIEW
If you have spent any amount of time around BMX and mountain bike helmets, you will have seen motocross technology being used, but the Transfer-9 is not like anything you have seen before. It is backed by many years in the industry and is made for daily use. It is very similar to the Bell Full-9 at a fraction of the price.
Who is this product for?
This product is ideal for BMX and mountain bike riders as well as road cyclists looking for full head and face protection when riding their bike.
The package includes one Bell Transfer-9 Helmet, available in 14 colors with a removable visor. The helmet also has a camera mount already attached and pockets for your ear buds.
Overview of Features
The Bell Transfer-9 has taken many of its features from its big brother, the Full-9; however, it retails for around half the price. There are a few changes, such as the composite instead of a carbon shell, as well as a slight shape change to the shell.
The composite material adds around 150 grams to the overall weight of the helmet, making it weigh 1250 grams, but this is still fairly light.
The Transfer-9 has most of the Full-9’s safety features, including CPSC, CE EN1078, ASTM F2032-06, and ASTM F1952-00 safety certifications, which cover all of the safety standards for Europe and North America. As you can see, there have been no shortcuts taken when producing this helmet.
This helmet is compatible with the Eject (sold separately), and has snap-removable, 3D-formed cheek pads that can be machine washed along with the rest of the interior padding. Plus, the antimicrobial treatment that the XT-2 interior receives aids in resisting moldy, musty smells.
The Transfer-9 is available in 7 sizes from X-small to 2X-large, and 14 different colors. The extreme and artwork is a great addition to the look of this helmet.
There are 4 rear and 5 front air vents as well as 3 over-brow vents to ensure that your head has adequate ventilation, even on hot days when BMX or mountain biking in the sun. This helmet comes with a removable visor that protects you from debris when biking in high wind situations. The padded chin bar is not removable and provides additional protection in the events of a collision.
The helmet comes with Soundtrax speaker pockets that allow you to place your ear buds into the provided pockets without needing tape. There is also a breakaway-style camera mount on the helmet, so you can record your rides.
How to use it
Place the helmet on your head and ensure that the chin bar is in place. Secure the helmet under your chin with the padded D-ring closure.
Check that you can fit one finger between the closure and your chin and that the helmet doesn’t constrict your breathing.
This helmet can be adjusted for head sizes between 54 and 58 centimeters. You can also use the thinner strap which is supplied with the helmet.
There are 15 air vents that are CAD-optimized to ensure maximum cooling. This helmet is made from EPS foam that absorbed any shocks.
The lower plate and face plate are made from ABS to ensure the helmet is durable and protective. This helmet is very lightweight, weighing just 595 grams.
The helmet meets CE EN 1078:2012, CE EN A1:2012, and CPSC safety regulations to ensure your protection when wearing it. This helmet is only suitable for road cycling and should not be used for racing, motor vehicle riding, or downhill riding.

From the day you buy this helmet, you can face mountain biking and BMX riding head on. This helmet was created with Bell’s motocross heritage in mind, made for daily shredding.
While it shares a great number of features with its pro-level big brother, the Full-9, it is available for almost half the price, allowing you to protect your head without breaking the bank. The removable cheek pads, over-brow ventilation, and the speaker system ensure that this helmet is ready to use right out of the box.
